Orbis Moderandi – NZ Pét-Nats from OCD!
The Sauv Blanc pétillant naturel turns all the flavor notes up to 11. It’s about as grapefruit in flavor as you can be without being a Paloma—actually, this is an excellent (& low ABV) beverage for cocktail lovers! It is balanced with the same minerality that the rest of Melissa Saunder’s wines are known for, with a nuanced sweetness and lovely effervescence. ☀️Close your eyes and you can feel the sun on your face and smell the sun baking the clay. You forgot your sunglasses but who cares, you’re drinking wine.☀️
The Red Nat is made from Pinot Noir grapes that macerate on the skins to enhance and enrich the wine’s color. Once opened, it is juicy and lively on the tongue. Immediately our imagination takes us to the smell of fresh, mineral rain hitting an already muddy field. Pour a glass, let it open for 15 minutes, sip the delicious complexity (cherry, blackberry, thyme, coffee, NZ earth, etc.), and repeat.
Both Orbis Moderandi pét-nats are made without SO2 additions. They are produced by Hunter’s Estate, one of the oldest and very best producers in Marlborough, Waihopai Valley.
