The best producers I`ve met all have one thing in common.
They care.
You can see how they farm. You can hear it in how they talk about their vineyards. You can feel it in the pride they take in every decision.
Long before you taste the wine, you can often tell how much someone cares.
That`s why, when we choose winery partners, we`re looking for more than great wine.
We`re looking for the people behind it.
Melissa explored this idea in more depth in her latest Substack, including why "Who cares?" has become one of the guiding questions behind every winery partnership we build at Communal.
We`re thrilled to see Schplink and Herisson White featured by Jancis Robinson, one of the wine world`s most respected critics.
Beyond the recognition itself, we especially appreciated the mention of the fill date—a small but important detail that reflects best practices for preserving freshness and quality in box wine.
Moments like this help move the conversation forward. Because great wine deserves to be judged by what`s in the glass, not the packaging it comes in.

The best wine recommendation? When a producer makes you come back for another wine.
That`s why we`re so excited about Herisson Rosé. If you loved their red, this is proof that quality isn`t a one-off—it`s how they make wine.
Bright strawberry, juicy watermelon, a silky texture, and a crisp mineral finish—it`s everything you want in a rosé from a producer we`ve come to trust.
Because great wine isn`t defined by the package it`s in. It`s defined by the people making it.
And when the producer is this good, we`re happy to put our trust in the box. 🍷☀️
A big thank you to Empire Wine & Liquor @empirewine for recognizing what we`ve believed all along: exceptional wine can come in a box.
People often ask why I`m still advocating for premium box wine after more than a decade.
Because changing minds takes time.
For generations, we`ve been taught that quality comes in a heavy glass bottle with a cork. Those visual cues have shaped our perception—but they don`t determine what`s inside.
My work has never really been about the package. It`s about changing perceptions so we judge wine by its quality, not its packaging.
Ten years in, and I`ll keep having this conversation for as long as it takes.

The biggest myth about wine isn`t about taste—it`s about the package it comes in.
For years, we`ve been taught that glass equals quality and boxes mean compromise.
The reality? Great wine starts in the vineyard. It`s shaped by the producer, the grapes, and the care that goes into every step of winemaking—not by the container it`s sold in.
When we challenge old assumptions, we make room for better conversations and smarter choices.
Wine deserves to be judged by what`s inside, not what surrounds it.

"Changing perceptions" has been at the center of my work for over a decade.
Not because I care about a package.
Because I care about the future of wine.
The biggest opportunities for positive change often come from challenging old assumptions. For me, advocating for box wine has always been about reducing waste, lowering emissions, and helping create a more sustainable future for the wine industry.

"Changing perceptions" has been at the center of my work for over a decade. Not because I care about a package. Because I care about the future of wine.
This has always been about creating the greatest possible positive impact on the wine industry by challenging the packaging assumptions that prevent lower-carbon, lower-waste solutions from gaining acceptance.
The package isn`t the point. The impact is.

Oracle Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon is back—sustainably farmed, hand-harvested, and thoughtfully made from start to finish. A 72-hour soak, stainless steel fermentation, and time in new oak come together to create a wine that’s structured, balanced, and seriously drinkable. This is Cabernet, done right.
POV: a female founder changing the wine industry 🍷✨
She’s a Master of Wine—so when she says box wine is “better,” she means truly delicious, thoughtfully made, and worth obsessing over.
Putting wine in a box isn’t a compromise—it’s intentional. Because exceptional wine deserves packaging that’s just as smart, practical, and eco-conscious as the people drinking it.
What’s on the box matters just as much as what’s inside. 🍷
From preserving the integrity of the wine to sharing the story behind the packaging, every detail is intentional. The label isn’t just design—it’s an invitation to learn, explore, and understand why it’s done differently.
Big thanks to Empire Wine & Liquor @empirewine for the shoutout 💫
We love seeing Otto’s Constant Dream Sauvignon Blanc getting this kind of recognition—bright, tropical, and just the right amount of crisp. An easy step outside the usual, without straying too far from what you love.
Wine isn’t just about what’s in the glass—it’s about everything it takes to get there. And packaging? That’s where the biggest environmental impact happens.
So here’s how we’re doing our part:
We’re expanding our lineup of high-quality box wines—the format with the lowest carbon footprint and the least single-use waste.
We’re building a circular system for glass bottles, shipping them from France on sailboats in reusable crates instead of disposable cardboard.
And we’re reusing “vintage” glass—because making new glass is carbon intensive, and using it again just makes sense.
Earth Day is tomorrow—but around here, every day is Earth Day 💫 This week, as we celebrate, we’re thinking about the small switches that add up—like choosing wine with less packaging, less waste, and a lighter footprint.
Great wine, just better for the planet.
Sustainable choices don’t have to be complicated—they can start with what’s in your glass.
We’re hiring in the NY metro market—but not your typical wine sales role.
This could be a fit for an experienced wholesale wine professional looking to add another portfolio to an existing book, or for a wholesale company owner or sales leader open to a more collaborative model—where sales teams share coverage in a smart, complementary way.
Why this matters: the biggest challenge isn’t whether a buyer will buy after a tasting—it’s getting the meeting in the first place. Buyers are stretched thin and prefer working with people they already know and trust.
We’re looking for wholesale experience, strong buyer relationships in the NY metro market, and the ability to grow business.
If you’re interested in adding to your book, or exploring a shared-sales approach, we’d love to connect.
This isn’t the box wine you remember. 💫 Crisp Burgundy Chardonnay, 4 bottles in one, stays fresh for 30 days, and ready for anything — from solo nights to spontaneous picnics. Less waste, more wine, better vibes.
Proof that great wine doesn’t need a cork. Just a fridge and a glass.
Just in time for the season—this vibrant, high-acid Burgundy is bright, refreshing, and full of energy. No wonder it’s having a renaissance… and we’re here for it.
Made from Espadeiro—an indigenous Portuguese variety—this wine bursts with fresh raspberry and strawberry notes. Zippy, light, and effortlessly drinkable… consider this your go-to for sunny days ahead.
