Domaine de Thalie 'Cuvee Megalithe', Macon-Bray

Older vines on a tiny parcel with southern exposure and a higher percentage of marl and clay. Hand harvest. Whole bunches undergo an 15 day maceration in stainless steel, followed by a natural fermentation. Elevage for 12 months in neutral demi-muid. Unfined, unfiltered, minimal SO2. ‘Megalithe’ refers to a menhir on the plot that gives vitality to the place.

Peter Gierszewski established this small five-hectare estate in 2019. He started from scratch, purchasing old vines and converting an old farmhouse into a cellar and home. It is situated in the hills above Cluny, a natural and historic sub-region of Saone-et-Loire. Farming is organic and biodynamic and Peter values biodiversity. The soils are very diverse and the wines extraordinarily expressive.
