Wine

Domaine de Thalie 'Balancin', Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Viti/Vini
Older vines on a tiny parcel with south-western exposure and a higher percentage of limestone. Hand harvest. Whole bunches undergo an 18 day maceration in stainless steel, followed by a natural fermentation. Elevage for 10 months in neutral oak. Unfined, unfiltered, minimal SO2. ‘Balancin’ refers to a legendary rock just above Peter’s Pinot Noir vines.
Producer

Peter Gierszewski established this small five-hectare estate in 2019. He started from scratch, purchasing old vines and converting an old farmhouse into a cellar and home. It is situated in the hills above Cluny, a natural and historic sub-region of Saone-et-Loire. Farming is organic and biodynamic and Peter values biodiversity. The soils are very diverse and the wines extraordinarily expressive.
